We encourage our clients to do their part to help the environment. Here are some simple things you can do.

Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs:

They cost 3-5 times more, but use 25% electricity and last several years longer so you save money. Each bulb saves around 1,000 pounds of CO2 each year. Change all the lights in your home and office.

Shut Off The Computer:

If you shut your computer off when it’s not in use it could save up to $70 per year in electricity. Also your computer runs faster after it restarts versus staying on for days on end.

Pay Your Bills Online:

It's more convenient and faster but also helps save on paper. Contact your accounts to set up online bill pay and make sure they stop sending paper copies as well.

Say No To Plastic Bags:

Over half a billion plastic bags are used each year and less than 3% are recycled. Next time you are at the grocery store buy a few cloth bags and use them every time.

Recycle, Re-Use, Recycle Again:

Use recycled paper, when you print something save it then use it to print on the back side. When it's finally done recycle it again so the process continues. Recycle all newspapers, magazines and junk mail.

Work Close To Home:

See if you can work from home a few times a month. Every gallon of gas you save avoids around 20 pounds of CO2 emissions, according to the EPA. If you can’t do that carpool or take public transportation.

Adjust The Temperature:

Adjust your thermostat a few degrees warmer in the summer and a few degrees cooler in the winter. Also run your washing machine on the cold cycle, most of the energy is wasted in heating up the water.
